Kochi: Actor abuse convicts including prime accused Pular Suni were sentenced to 20 years of Rigorous Imprisonment by a court in Kochi in the 2017 Actor abuse case today, media reports said. The Ernakulam Additional Special Sessions Court (SPE/CBI–III) fined Rs 50,000 each, and ordered Rs 5 lakh in compensation to the survivor by convicts Suni, Martin Antony, B Manikandan, Vijeesh VP, Salim H alias Vadival Salim, and Pradeep.
The convicts made emotional pleas before the court and sought leniency in punishments.
Actor Dileep, who was the eighth accused, was acquitted by the court on December 8, saying that the prosecution had failed to prove that he had plotted the conspiracy.
According to the prosecution a leading actress was abducted and raped in a moving vehicle on February 17, 2017 as per the contract given by Dileep to settle scores with the survivor for informing Dileep former wife Manju Warrier about his relationship leading to their divorce.
