Kochi: The Centre has banned entry of people into 48 out of 87 tourists’ destinations in Kashmir following the April 22 Pahhalgam attack that killed 26 tourists, while the number of arrivals has declined steeply, media reports said.
Yousmarg, Tousimaidan, Doodpathri, Aharbal, Kousarnag, Bangus, Kariwan Diver Chandigam, Bangus Valley, Wular/Watlab, Rampora and Rajpora, Chearhar, Mundij-Hamam-Markoot Waterfall, Khampoo, Bosnia, Vijitop, Sun Temple are a few of the destinations closed.
The remaining are Verinag Garden, Sinthan Top, Margantop, Akad Park, Habba Khatoon Point, Babareshi, Ringawali, Gogaldara, Baderkote, Shrunz Waterfall, Kamanpost, Namblan Waterfall, Eco Park Khadniyar, Sangarwani, Jamia Masjid, Badamwari, Rajori Kadal Hotel Kanaaz, Aali Kadal JJ Food Restaurant, IVORY Hotel, Padshapal resorts and restaurant, Cherry tree resort (Faqir Gujri), North cliff cafe and retreat by Stay Pattern, Forest hill cottage, Eco village resort (Dara), Astanmarg View Point, Astanmarg Paragliding, Mamneth and Mahadev Hills, Buddhist Monastery, Dachigam – Beyond Trout Farm / Fisheries Farm, Astanpora(especially Qayam Gah resort, Lachpatri, Hung Park and Naranag. Some of them have been shut for the time being.
Security has been beefed up in other destinations. Meanwhile, passenger traffic at Srinagar International Airport witnessed a considerable drop since April 23 when a total of 17,653 passengers travelled through the airport with 6,561 arrivals and 11,092 departures.
On April 24, the 15,836 passengers travelled including 4,456 arrivals and 11,380 departures on 118 flights.
On April 25, a total of 14,041 passengers travelling on 100 scheduled flights. A total of 24 arrivals and 794 departures on four extra flights were recorded on the same day.
On April 26, Srinagar Airport witnessed 14,783 passengers travelling in 106 scheduled flights, three special flights brought 28 tourists and carried 351 passengers.
Srinagar Police today continued searches across multiple locations in the city with the aim to dismantle terror-supporting infrastructure in the district.
They have raided 1000 houses suspects across Srinagar with so far house searches across to seize arms, documents, digital devices among others to dismantle the terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
