Kochi: Al Azhar Polytechnic, Thodupuzha, won the 63rd state inter polytechnic high range zonal football competition at Thodupuzha on Friday. They defeated Ilahiya Polytechnic, Muvattupuzha, 2-0in the finals played at Thodupuzha Soccer School (TSS) ground on Friday.
Al Azhar beat NSS, Pandalam while Ilahiya defeated Government Polytechnic, Pala, in the semi finals. Thodupuzha Municipal vice chairperson Jessy Anthony distributed prizes to players.
Baseem Pareeth of Al Azhar won the Best player award. Zonal convenor Shobhana K R presided. TSS director and former Santosh trophy player, P A Saleem Kutty, delivered the keynote address. Workshop superintendent Shiju delivered a vote of thanks.
