Kochi: Twenty seven nationals of Bangladesh living illegally in India were detained from a labour settlement in Munambam near here on Friday, media reports said.
The Kerala Police and other agencies took them into custody after screening 50 suspicious workers including women.
The move is part of a nationwide crackdown on illegal immigrants working illegally in different parts of the country.
The raid was conducted under ‘Clean Rural,’ an initiative by the Kerala Police.
Security agencies are monitoring illegal immigration in major cities like Kochi, commercial capital of Kerala which has witnessed a huge increase in the inflow of migrant workforce in the last few years.
