Kochi: Nasa astronauts Butch Wilmore, Suni Williams and other crew members returned to earth after being stranded in the space station for nine months, BBC reported.
The capsule carrying them travelled for 17 hours before splashing down off the coast of Florida. The SpaceX capsule entered Earth’s atmosphere supported by four parachutes.
A recovery ship lifted the capsule off the water.
The two and fellow crew member astronauts Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov cheered after coming out of the capsule.
The mission was planned for eight days, but technical issues forced them to remain in the International Space Station for nine months.
