Kochi: In a hit and run case, the accused sped away after allegedly hitting a cop engaged in vehicle check at Thodupuzha in Idukki district near here.
Sub-Inspector E M Muhammed sustained injuries on Saturday afternoon. The official of the Kalloorkad Police Station in Muvattupuzha was admitted to a private hospital in Thodupuzha, media reports said.
The incident happened around 3:30 PM when Muhammed and his team were on patrol when they spotted a black car moving in a suspicious manner in Kadalikkad area.
Despite the police team signalling the occupants to stop the vehicle, they not only ignored the police but also allegedly hit the cop while escaping from the spot.
Police have registered a case for attempted murder and obstruction of official duty. An investigation is underway to identify and arrest the culprits.
