AI cancel flights

Kochi: Air India cancelled six international flights using the 787-8 Dreamliner on Tuesday after adopting stricter safety norms in the wake of Ahmedabad crash that claimed 274 lives on Thursday last, media reports said.
AI 915 (Delhi-Dubai), AI 153 (Delhi-Vienna), AI 143 (Delhi-Paris), AI 159 (Ahmedabad-London), AI 133 (Bengaluru-London) and AI 170 (London-Amritsar) were cancelled, NDTV said.
A glitch on AI 315 from Hong Kong to Delhi forced the pilot to return to Hong Kong.
A San Francisco-Mumbai flight suffered a technical snag during a scheduled halt at Kolkata, prompting the airline to deboard all passengers.
Two Dreamliners of Lufthansa and British Airways from Frankfurt and London to Hyderabad and Chennai returned.
Ahmedabad-London Gatwick service was cancelled for non availability of aircraft due to airspace restrictions and additional precautionary checks.
Air India retired the 171 callsign as a mark of respect for the departed in the Ahmedabad crash.
Air India operates 33 Boeing 787s.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered exhaustive maintenance checks on 787-8/9 variants equipped with GEnx engines, NDTV reported.
