Nation observes Yoga Day

Kochi: India observed 11th International Day of Yoga led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi said, ‘Yoga is the pause button that humanity needs to breathe, balance, and become whole again’.
Modi said yoga is a “direction of peace in a world which is going through tension, unrest, and instability.”
Modi said at such times yoga is the “pause button that humanity needs to breathe, balance, and become whole again”.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu joined Modi to mark the occasion by doing different asanas.
People observed the day at Lodhi Gardens in New Delhi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister were among those who took part in observing the day.
Activists of Bharatiya Janata Party performed yoga at the Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, Kashmir. Several party workers, locals, and yoga enthusiasts performed asanas to mark the occasion at the city square, which holds political significance in the Kashmir Valley.
People took part in yoga session at the Kanheri Caves on the outskirts of Mumba under the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. The world first began observing the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015, after BJP came to power at the center.
The event is celebrated on June 21 every year as it marks the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere, making it the longest day of the year.
