Kochi: Three persons including father of a newborn boy were arrested while trying to trade a two month old baby for Rs 50,000 at Kummanam in Kottayam, Manorama News reported.
The father was from Assam while the buyer and the agent were from Uttar Pradesh.
It was the timely intervention by the mother of the child that helped to avert the crime.
The boy’s father had received an advance of Rs 1000 when the mother alerted local people who called the police. The parents of the newborn had a five year old child.
The agent, who is also a migrant worker, wanted to give the baby to a couple who had three girls and desperately wanted a boy. They lived in Erattupetta.
