Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday ordered police protection to the expelled CPM leader Kunhikrishnan V after he moved the court seeking security to him during the release of his book, Live Law reported.
The court directed Kannur District Police Chief and the SHO, Payyanur to ensure adequate protection to him.
After Kunhikrishnan told Asianet News about alleged financial fraud, CPM workers protested against him near his house and elsewhere.
Kunhikrishnan, who was expelled from the party for accusing Payyannur MLA TI Madhusoodanan of swindling Martyr’s fund, is planning to release the book at 5 pm on February 2 at Gandhi Park in Payyannur, Kannur.
The book “Nethruthwathe Anigal Thiruthanam” is expected to expose misappropriation of funds collected for a party worker who was killed in a political violence.
The matter will be taken up for consideration again on February 6.
CPM has a strong following in North Kerala where many incidents of attacking those targeting the party have happened in the past. One such prominent case is that of T P Chandrasekharan V S loyalist who was brutally butchered for anti party activities. Many CPM leaders who were convicted in the case are still serving their term in jail.
