Cops arrest tourists for Church desecration

Kochi Eight tourists from Kozhikode were arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments of St. Anne’s Church at Pallivasal near Munnar in Idukki, media reports said. Four tourists scaled the holy cross and captured photos of the surroundings which were posted on social media, while four others,  including a juvenile, took pictures and shared them on social media, the Hindureported. . This led to widespread outrage leading to the church vicar, Fr. Vijosh Mulloor lodging a police complaint. A special police team led by the Munnar Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) registered a case and arrested the eight youths. They were booked under sections relating to deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings. Those arrested include Muhammed Ashmil V M, Muhammed Nihal M K., Muhammed Irfan V A, and Muhammed Muktyar.
