No FIR on basis diary: Kerala

Kochi: Kerala has informed the High Court of Kerala that an FIR cannot be registered against Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vjayan, son-in-law Mohammed Riyas, MLA, in alleged money laundering case without an investigation.
The government made its position in response of a notice served by the court while hearing a petition filed by a lawyer expressing concern over the delay in booking Pinarayi and others as demanded by the ED.
The Kerala government argued that an FIR cannot be registered just on the basis of a diary, Asianet news reported.
The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has placed before the court the letter given to DGP seeking to book Pinarayi, Riyas and Veena.
