Koch: Delhi Excise Policy scam accused Arvind Kejriwal has decided to quit as Delhi Chief Minister to pave way for Atishi Singh to occupy the post, media reports said.
Kejriwal said he would not occupy the post until he proved innocent in the case.Earlier, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced Atishi as successor to Kejriwal who is set to tender resignation to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena.
The legislators of AAP had met at Kejriwal’s residence to elect Atishi until the elections in a few months.Earlier, Kejriwal, 54, stated his decision to resign would serve as a “certificate” of his honesty, two days after he was released from the Tihar jail after being granted bail by the Supreme Court.Atishi is a minister and member of the Political Affairs Committee of AAP.
