Kochi: Four persons were killed and many injured, two of them seriously, when a Kerala state bus fell into a deep gorge at Pullupara near Kuttikkanam in Idukki this morning, media reports said.
The bus had gone on a spiritual tour of Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu from Mavelikara on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Rama Mohan, 51, Arun Hari, 40, Sangeeth, 45, and Bindu, 59.
Those injured were admitted to hospitals in Mundakayam and Peermedu.
There were 34 passengers in the bus.
The driver said that he lost control over the bus due to brake failure.
The bus, moving on a steep descending road, was trying to negotiate a steep turn when it fell into the 30 feet gorge.
