Kochi: The CBI has summoned Tamil actor Vijay on January 12 in connection with the Karur Stampede case of September 27, 2025, which claimed 41lives.
The stampede occurred during a TVK political rally in Veluswamypuram, Karur district addressed by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder Vijay.
The CBI probe agency had questioned and recorded statements of top TVK functionaries as part of its inquiry.
The Tamil Nadu government
had constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case opposing the CBI probe.
However, the Supreme Court transferred the investigation to the CBI, for an independent probe. The top court declined to accept the state’s plea to continue with the SIT.
