Kochi: The Union government has
disputed claims regarding Indian nurse Nimisha Priya serving a death sentence made by ‘Grand Mufti ’ Kanthapuram A P Abubakar Musliyar who has withdrawn his post on social media platform X.
The post regarding the overturning of the death sentence of Nimisha Priya in Yemen, has been deleted by Kanthapuram.
The Tribune daily had quoted the Ministry of External Affairs describing as inaccurate the claims made by Musaliyar who too had acknowledged that his office was yet to receive any official written communication from Yemeni authorities confirming the decision.
The 37-year-old Kerala nurse was convicted in 2017 for killing her business partner Yemeni Mahdi of Yemen for which she was sentenced to death in 2018.
She was scheduled for execution on July 16 this year, but it was postponed due to India’s intervention.
