Kochi: Close on the heels of videos showing Kunnamkulam Police in Thrissur torturing an innocent person, another case of custodial torture in Peechi station in same district has exposed pathetic condition Law and order prevailing in Kerala, media reports said.
In the second case in 2023, the victim Ouseph accused the police commissioner of not acting on his complaint about the incident of 2023.
Ouseph accused the Sub Inspector of allegedly conspiring with his agent to secure Rs 5 lakh to wind up a case hoisted against him and release his son and manager from police lock up, the reports said.
Ouseph had submitted a video footage of handing over Rs 5 lakh to the person who made the complaint against Ouseph.
The CCTV video footage of the police station, secured through court intervention, showed the Sub in Inspector bashing the victim’s representatives in Peechi police station.
The Sub Inspector bashed Ouseph’s son and manager on behalf of a person who lodged a complaint against Ouseph accusing him of assaulting the complainant with the help of his staff. The Sub Inspector Ratheesh also put them in lock up from where they were released upon payment of Rs 5 lakh out of which Rs 3 lakh was allegedly for the police.
