Kochi: BJP is upbeat over a court in Kasargod acquitting its Kerala chief in the Manjeswaram election bribery case filed by CPM candidate V V Ramesan, media reports said.
The Kasaragod Sessions Court gave the judgment on Saturday.
Arguing that the case was politically motivated, Surendran and five others had filed a discharge petition in September 2023.
They were accused of bribing the BSP candidate to withdraw from the race in Manjeswaram during the 2021 elections. BJP had fielded Surendran from Manjeswaram and Konni during the assembly elections.
