Kochi: A court in Kolkata on Saturday convicted the security guard Sanjay Roy of the RG Kar Hospital raping and murdering a young doctor of the college last year
The verdict was delivered by the Additional District and Sessions, Sealdah, court.
The court will announce the sentence on Monday.
The court relied on forensic reports while delivering the verdict.
Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, said in the court that he was innocent and was being framed while “real criminals are roaming free”.
The CBI’s 45 page charge sheet said that the victim’s blood was found on accused Sanjay Roy’s jeans and shoes. His hair and a Bluetooth earpiece that synced with his cellphone were also found from the crime scene, the chargesheet noted.
