CPI targets CPM; BJP a threat

Kochi: Even as CPM’s trusted ally CPI has sought resignation of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for spoiling chances in the Lok Sabha polls, people continue to have faith in the Left despite the negative campaigns against it, political analysts said.

The CPI Thiruvananthapuram council blamed Pinarayi and daughter for tarnishing the image of the front due to alleged involvement in scams. The Alappuzha council too slammed Pinarayi, they said.

Ironically, not a single leader in CPM has uttered a word against Pinarayi, albeit G Sudhakaran and Thimas Isaac making veiled attacks. The party cadre are feeling the absence of leaders of the stature of late K R Gouri, late M V Raghavan, V S Achuthanandan among others.

However, all credits to LDF’s performance despite factors like anti incumbency, social security pension suspension, payment of salaries to government staff, scam in CPM ruled Karuvannur bank, Governor- government spat among others.

The merciless bashing by SFI activist of a student leading to his suicide in Waynad veterinary college, irregularities in appointement of staff in universities and other institutions and the like seems to have had little impact on the voters.

The visit of the chief minister and family abroad amidst polls and chronic financial condition did not bother the voters.

Though the Karuvannur bank scam helped to some extent victory of superstar Suresh Gopi of BJP from the cultural capital of Thrissur, the individual contribution of Suresh Gopi for his popularity as an actor cannot be ignored.

Interestingly, efforts made by the BJP to lure the voters through various central schemes including running of two Vande Bharat trains failed to influence the voters in places other than Thrissur.

It was the Kizhakkambalam based twenty20 which was shocked for faring pvery badly despite its numerous projects for the benefit of people. It should seriously ponder over tying up with any front to make political gains in 2026 assembly polls.

The Congress might have won18 seats and established a huge lead in assembly segments, it is constantly facing the threat of onslaught by the BJP which is on prowl to hijack Congress leaders ahead of assembly polls. The faction ridden grand old party is yet to recover from the shock and humiliation of

losing its high profile A K Antony’s son, Anil Antony, late Chief Minister K Karunakaran’s daughter Padmaja and others. The open clash between Congress leaders has made them a laughing stock among the public. The BJP will play its games which will be out of the hypothesis of political parties before the assembly polls in 2026 as it topped 11 assembly seats, they said.
