CPM-CPI interim truce

Kochi: In a bid to bring round the CPI, the CPM on Wednesday suspended implementation of the Centre’s PM-Shri until it is reviewed by a cabinet sub committee.

A decision on the issue will be taken after the sub committee submits its report, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram during the cabinet briefing.

He said the state government will write to the Centre seeking to amend the programme acceptable to the state.

The had signed an MoU with the BJP led government agreeing to implement the PM-Shri programme.

With the second major partner, CPI, objecting to it, the CPM has mellowed down.
With this, Kerala has made a short time suspension of implementation of the project.
The CPI had suggested that the CPM communicate with the centre seeking to freeze the agreement.
Both the left parties are against the NEP (National Education Policy) 2020, CPI national chief D Raja told reporters in Delhi.
The CPM has asked the CPI to constitute a Sub-Committee to study the provisions of PM SHRI. The implementation of the PM SHRI project will be kept in abeyance till the Committee submits its report.
The CPM has 62 members in the 140 member assembly where it has 17 members.
