Kochi: Kerala DGP has got legal nod to take departmental action against cops involved in custodial assault of Congress leader V S Sujith in Kunnamkulam police station on April 5, 2023, media reports said.
The Thrissur DIG has submitted a report to Range IG seeking to suspend four accused policemen S I Nuhman, Civil Police Officers Sashindran, Sandeep and Sajeevan.
While the DGP is likely to take action on Saturday, the victim Sujith sought termination of five accused from service including a driver Suhair whose name has been dropped from the list of accused cops.
The case relates to police taking into custody Sujith when he questioned police questioning his friends on April 5, 2023. He was taken to the police station where the cops including the driver mercilessly bashed him and filed a case of consuming liquor which turned out to be baseless as per a medical report.
