Kochi: Jet Airways (India) founder Naresh Goyal, 74, has been taken nto custody by the ED in a money laundering case worth Rs 538 crore, media reports said.
After sustained questioning, he was taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
He will be produced before a special PMLA court in Mumbai on Saturday. The CBI had registered an FIR against Goyal, his wife Anita and some former company executives in connection with the alleged fraud case reported by the Canara Bank.
CBI officials had raided seven locations in Mumbai, including Goyal’s residence and offices on May 5.
The Canara Bank had lodged a complaint against him, others accusing them of causing the bank a wrongful loss of Rs 538.62 crore to the bank.
Jet Airways shut operations in April 2019 after around 25 years of operation due to heavy losses.
