The investigation agencies are probing any violation of FEMA Act.
The ED has collected statement from the actor’s. Raids were held in houses of vehicle dealers in 17 places in five districts.
The Customs Commissionerate (Preventive), Kochi, had returned 33 out of the 39 vehicles seized under Operation Numkhor to their owners for safe custody due to practical difficulties in keeping them.
The 33 cars cannot be used by the owners as they are impounded by Customs. Out of remaining six vehicles two SUVs, a Land Rover Defender and a Nissan Patrol of Dulquer while Toyota Land Cruiser of Amit Chakkalakkal are in Customs’ custody.
The vehicles were seized as part of a crackdown on those suspected of having been smuggled into India from Bhutan, later registered in various states using forged documents and resold in Kerala.
So far, Customs have identified around 140 vehicles in Kerala suspected to be part of the smuggling network. They have sought the assistance of the Kerala Police and Motor Vehicles Department to trace the remaining vehicles.
ED may quiz actors
