Kochi: Fourteen people lost their lives in floods and landslides due to heavy rain in South Korea, BBC reported.
Twelve people were reported missing. People were badly hit by landslides in Gapyeong, central Chungcheong region.
Much of the destruction has been in the country’s south. Roads and buildings were damaged and submerged and there were reports of widespread death of livestock.
Thousands were evacuated from their homes since the downpour began on Wednesday.
Thousands of households were without power. More rain is expected in the capital Seoul and northern regions on Sunday.
The government has launched a multi-agency recovery effort.
