Kochi: Kerala government gave nod to appeal against a trial court acquiring actor Dileep in the actor abuse case of 2017, media reports said.
The trial court had acquitted Dileep observing that the prosecution failed to prove charges against him.
The Director General of Prosecution has issued orders in this regard, Asianet News reported.
The appeal will be filed soon after the Kerala High Court’s Christmas vacation, the reports said.
The actor was abducted and abused in a moving car on February 17, 2017. Dileep was arrested on charges of conspiracy in connection with the crime and was in jail for about three months.
Dileep was accused of funding the contract rape to settle scores with the survivor for allegedly exposing his illicit relationship with actor Kavya Madhawan whom he married later.
