Kochi: Kerala High Court rejected Kerala University Registrar Dr K S Anil Kumar plea challenging his suspension by the Vice Chancellor for allegedly dishonouring the Governor, media reports said.
Refusing to stay the suspension of Anil Kumar, the court sent notices to the University and Kerala Police seeking detailed responses on the matter.
The court will further hear the case on Monday. The High Court criticised the Registrar for undermining the dignity of the Governor.
The court questioned the police’s inability to manage the law-and-order situation at the venue where students’ unions of different parties protested against display of Bharat Mata’s picture at the event organised on the completion of 50 years of imposition of Emergency in 1975.
The High Court further questioned the Registrar’s counsel on the claim that a religious symbol was displayed at the Senate Hall.
Anil Kumar argued that the Vice Chancellor had infringed his powers to suspend him without following due procedure, the reports said.
