HC seeks action against desecrator

Kochi: Kerala High Court has taken umbrage against police not acting against a person who desecrated Thulasithara, a sacred platform for the Hindus, media reports said.
The court asked why the police had not taken any legal action against the person who had hurt the sentiments of a religion, media reports said.
The judge made the observation while granting bail to one Sreeraj who was arrested and given bail for sharing the video of the desecration on social media.
The counsel of Sreeraj argued that the vandal Abdul Hakkim did the act due to his mental ailments.
However, the court asked how Hakkim was running a hotel in Guruvayur if he was mentally ill.
The court asked, how can he own a driving license if he had mental problems?
The Court granted bail to Sreeraj who was arrested for sharing a video of desecration on Instagram and Facebook on January 12, 2025.
Tulasi is also cultivated for religious and traditional medicine purposes. It is widely used in Ayurveda, and has a special place in Hindu homes. Hindu literature personifies the tulasi plant as the goddess Tulasi.
