Imran Khan is in solitary confinement

Kochi: Incarcerated former Pakistan premier and country’s cricket world cup winning captain, Imran Khan, 73, has alleged “mental torture”, media reports quoting his sister Uzma Khan said.
Uzma, who met the fast bowler in Adiala prison in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, quoted Imran saying his solitary condition is “worse than physical abuse.”
Imran was very angry, she said, adding that Imran was in good health.
Uzma information about Imran’s health condition has buoyed the spirit of Imran’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party workers and supporters.
Khan and wife, Bushra Bibi, have been in prison since 2023 after being convicted for corruption and other charges.
Supporters of PTI had gathered outside the Adiala prison since early Tuesday.
Khan’s government was ousted in a no-confidence vote in April 2022 after which his party was in opposition in the parliament.
Khan and his party often allege that its mandate was stolen in the 2024 parliamentary election through rigging in favor of the current Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
