Kochi: India fired missiles on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, on Wednesday, media reports said.
Codenamed operation Sindoor, the strike included areas like Muridke and Bahawalpur, which are the strongholds of terror groups Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, the reports said.
The attacks began at 1:44am in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu & Kashmir’s Anantnag district killing 26 people on April 22.
Taking note of the strikes, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said his country has “every right to respond forcefully to this act of war”.
Pakistan claimed to have shot down two Indian fighter planes, while India has not responded to it.
There were lot of fake news spread by Pakistan showing AI generated and fake images of shot down Indian aircraft.
There are reports of nine deaths in Pakistan following the attack.
