Kochi: India on Thursday inked a Free Trade Agreement with UK during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK, media reports said.
The deal was signed by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and UK Minister Jonathan Reynold.
Modi held talks with British Premier Keir Starmer.
The deal is likely to boost annual trade between the two economies by $34 billion and open new avenues of growth, skill development, and job opportunities for Indians.
It will open opportunities for Indians in IT, financial services, professional services, management consultancy in the UK.
“Our landmark trade deal with India is a major win for Britain. It will create thousands of British jobs across the UK, unlock new opportunities for businesses and drive growth in every corner of the country, delivering on our Plan for Change,” Starmer said.
Twenty six British companies have announced new business in India.
