Islamic cleric held

Kochi: An Islamic cleric Irfan Ahmad Wagay, or Imam Irfan,
was detained at South Kashmir by Jammu and police for his suspected link with the Delhi blast
killing 12 people, Times of India reported.
The police suspect him as mastermind in the blast as he
allegedly built and expanded a white-collar terror network.
He reached out to the educated youth as a healthcare worker to recruit medical professionals, raised funds, arranged logistics, and helped procure materials for Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
Electronic gadgets were seized during raids at his residence in Shopian providing leads to a wider nexus.
A probe into Jaish-e-Muhammed (JeM) posters threatening police and security personnel in Bunpora Nowgam on October 19 led the cops to three of his alleged associates — Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid, of Nowgam who were arrested.
A case was soon registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and the Arms Act at Nowgam police station.
Their interrogation led to the discovery of links with the Faridabad module.
Police sources said that several other suspects have been identified, and their roles are being scrutinised.
Investigators are now examining the financial flows that sustained the network and questioning the friends and family members of the accused to map out its full reach.
Ahmad is among seven suspects arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police after recovery of weapons and explosives in Faridabad, and the blast near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday that killed nine.
