Kochi: Kerala is reeling under severe financial crises and it is struggling to meet its daily expenses, Chief Secretary Dr V Venu told the Kerala High Court, media reports said.It was due to this that the government was not able to distribute pending pensions of Kerala State Transport Corporation retirees, he told the court appearing online in response to delay in payment of pending pensions, the reports said.The court directed the government to pay pensions for October and November by the end of the month. Failing which the chief Secretary and KSRTC Managing Director would be summoned to appear before the court.Criticizing the state government for going extravagant on functions like Keralaleeyam, the court directed the government to give priority to matters pertaining to the livelihood of people, the reports said.According to reports, the KSRTC had an accumulated loss of Rs 8,031.56 crore in 2016-17. While the corporation was hardly able to meet its direct operational expenses until 2012-13, the current earnings are not enough to meet the direct operational expenses.
