Kochi: In a setback to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter Veena T, the Karnataka High Court has dismissed her plea seeking to stop the probe conducted by Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) against her now defunct IT company Exalogic Solutions, media reports said.
Veena claimed that the probe against Exalogic on charges of getting a remuneration of Rs 1.72 crore from a mining company CMRL was baseless. The Karnataka High Court had the other day directed SFIO not to arrest Veena in the case until the court delivered its judgment.
The court perused all the documents in this regard. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs had ordered the probe on January 31 after BJP leader and lawyer Shone George moved the Kerala High Court seeking a probe into the affairs of CMRL and Veena’s outfit under the Companies Act.
During a raid at CMRL a few years back, the Income Tax department came across evidence of CMRL paying money to Exalogic and different sections including leaders of political parties. The CMRL is involved in mining minerals like ilmenite from Kerala coast causing environmental degradation like sea erosion, the reports said.
