Kochi: Nonagenarian CPM leader M M Lawrence passed away in Kochi on Saturday.An ex MP, Lawrence, 95, was a member of the CPM’s central committee for a long period.He made immense contributions to nurturing left trade unionism and Left movement in the state.He was also a prominent leader of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU).Lawrence has served as the convener of the Left Democratic Front (LDF). He has represented Idukki in Parliament. Lawrence was in news when his teenaged grandson, Mithun Immanuel Joseph, took part in a ome-day fast organised by the BJP against attrocities on Sabarimala devotees a few years back.
