Kochi: A three-member committee led by Justice K Hema has expressed concern over the conditions prevailing in Malayalam film Industry, media reports said.
The panel expressed shock over revelations made by the actors who had deposed before the panel about the atrocities carried out by some who called the shots in the industry.
The committee has sought strong laws to tackle it and suggested a tribunal to cleanse and end discrimination.
The panel said the production controller had a big role in corrupting the industry. The panel said that top star was involved in attracting.
The panel was told by a stake holder that the actor abuse case in 2017 was only a tip of an iceberg. It said junior female artists were sexually exploited for getting a chance in films. The female actors seeking a break in film are also exploited financially and sexually.
The committee said that the industry was functioning without any control from the government.
The Hema Committee was formed after the attack on a popular actress on February 17, 2017 in which
actor Dileep is an accused. Dileep was in jail for near three months before getting a bail.
