Mamukkoya passes away

Kochi: Malayalam actor Mamukkoya, 76, passed away due brain hemorrhage at a private hospital in Kozhikode today, media reports said.
He suffered problems while he was attending a function in connection with a football on April, 24, in Malappuram.
He was put on a ventilator in a private hospital in Kozhikode.
Mamukkoya made his beginning from the stage and later moved to films. His maiden film was ‘Anyarude Bhoomi’ in 1979. He became popular through Sathyan Anthikkad’s film “Nadodikkattu”. It was actor and scriptwriter Sreenivasan who introduced Mamukkoya to Anthikkad.
Thereafter, he never looked back.
His roles in “Ramji Rao Speaking”, “Kakakkuyil”, “Sandesham”, “perumazhakaalam” are unforgettable.
He also did a French film “Flammens of Paradise”.
It was his Malabar dialect and comedy that helped to create his own space in the film industry.
He did over 450 films, most of which were comedy roles.
He is the first winner of the State award for best Comedian role in Malayalam cinema.
