Kochi: A person from Gujarat allegedly attempted to attack Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the weekly public hearing session at her house on Wednesday, media reports said.
According to the Delhi CMO, the accused from Rajkot allegedly attempted to assault her while she was interacting with citizens.
The accused identified as Rajesh Bhai Khimji Bhai Sakriya, 35, was nabbed by Delhi Police and is being questioned, the CMO said in a statement.
Gupta was taken to a hospital for a medical examination.
The accused first handed over some papers to Gupta before allegedly attempting the attack.
Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva condemned the incident, calling it a “serious breach of security” and demanding accountability.
