Kochi: In a major crisis in Malayalam film industry, actors’ outfit A.M.M.A executive committee, headed by Mohanlal, has been dissolved on moral grounds in the wake of numerous sexual allegations against many of its office bearers.
Mohanlal had convened an online meeting today when the veteran actor announced his decision to quit and thereby resulting in dissolution of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A).
The exit of General Secretary Siddique following a series of sexual allegations against him pushed the outfit into major problems leading to dissolution of the 17-member executive committee.
The publication of the Justice Hema Committee report had expressed deep concerns over deplorable conditions for female actors in the industry. A new committee will be elected in the next two months. The committee was formed in the wake of abduction and abuse of a noted south Indian actress on February 17, 2017. Actor Dileep is an accused in the case and was arrested in the case and was in jail for days. A.M.M.A has 506 members in it.
