Muslim cleric booked

Kochi: A Muslim cleric has landed in trouble as the police have filed an FIR against him for allegedly making objectionable and inflammatory remarks against Dimple Yadav, MP, of Samajwadi Party, media reports said.
Maulana Sajid Rashidi was booked for making the alleged remarks against former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife during a televised debate, an official said on Monday.
The FIR was registered on a complaint made by Pravesh Yadav against Rashidi accusing him of making the remarks on her visit to a mosque on July 26.
The complainant accused Rashidi of making statements that were not only derogatory and misogynistic, but also “highly provocative and aimed at inciting religious disharmony and communal tension”.
Yadav alleged that Rashidi’s comments were “an affront to a woman’s personal dignity” and appeared to be a deliberate attempt to provoke unrest.
Dimple Yadav is wife of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The complainant linked him to a group “working to disturb social harmony in India.” “Such elements are a direct threat to the secular, democratic, and inclusive fabric of the country,” the complaint added.
