Kochi: A new local train between Kollam and Ernakulam Junction, via Kottayam, was launched today bringing cheers among the struggling travelers in the sector.
The eight-rake MEMU service started from Kollam at 5.55 am and reached Ernakulam Junction at around 9.35 am. The train, introduced on a temporary arrangement, will run from Monday to Friday.
The spurt in traffic in the sector had made
travel a curse in the sector with morning trains like inter-state Palaruvi and Venad Express trains more than its capacity.
