Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in the house of migrant workers in Kozhikode in Kerala on Sunday, media reports said. The raids were held in the camps in South Beach in connection with the alleged links of the suspects with Pakistan-based handlers.
These suspects were involved in promoting radical and anti-national activities of Ghazwa-e-Hind, the reports said.Raids were simultaneously conducted in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
The NIA seized incriminating documents and digital devices, including mobile phones and SIM cards.The raids are based on the arrest of Marghoob Ahmad Danish in July, last year. He was the admin of a WhatsApp group ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ created by a Pakistani national identified as Zain.
The group, which had members from countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Yemen, was being operated by Pakistan-based suspects, according to the NIA. Marghoob was trying to motivate the group members with an ulterior objective of raising ‘Sleeper Cells’ for carrying out terrorist activities across the country.
