Pinarayi-Chennithala spat

Kochi: There were “womanisers” and “perverts” in Congress, alleged Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan whose Left front was accused of protecting women abusers, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala claimed, media reports said.
Speaking to reporters after casting his vote for local body polls in Kannur, Vijayan made the allegations when responding to rape accused expelled Congress leader Rahul Mamkootathil.
Vijayan alleged that the survivors were scared of Rahul due to which they had delayed lodging complaints against him.
Congress leader Chennithala accused Pinarayi Vijayan of keeping under wraps sexual harassment complaints against CPM leaders when he was the CPM secretary.
He said in Thiruvananthapuram that Vijayan “should first stop the womanisers in the CPM”.
He alleged CPM was sitting on a complaint filed by a woman against a former Left-supported Independent legislator and a filmmaker for about two weeks.
Chennithala said Pinarayi’s reaction was part of his move to “cover up” the Sabarimala gold theft case, he said.
