Kochi: Kerala Chief Minister of CPM Pinarayi Vijayan condemned recitation of RSS prayer song during the inauguration of the Ernakulam-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express from Ernakulam Junction on Saturday, media reports said.
Describing it “a gross violation of constitutional principles and secular values,” Vijayan flayed the railways for using the function to propagate the ideology of RSS.
He said the RSS prayer mocked India’s freedom struggle and secular national movement.
He said that it was “a covert attempt to push hardline Hindutva politics under the guise of patriotism” .
He urged citizens to recognise and resist such efforts to undermine India’s secular character.
Kerala’s third Vande Bharat train was flagged off from Ernakulam Junction virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express was among three other new services flagged off.
Meanwhile, the Southern Railways have removed the video of the school students singing the song from their social media account.
