Kochi: In a major move by the centre to develop Manipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid foundation stones for major infrastructure projects worth over ₹7,300 crore in Churachandpur in Manipur, media reports said.
Of this, ₹3,647 crore will be used for urban roads, drainage and asset management improvement.
A total of ₹550 crore will be used for the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project worth crore, an official statement said.
Nine working women’s hostels worth ₹142 crore, and ₹105 crore super-speciality and healthcare facilities to be developed.
Polo Ground worth ₹30 crore, upgradation of 120 schools at ₹134 crore, connectivity, education and tourism in parts of Manipur worth ₹102 crore, a multipurpose indoor stadium worth Rs 36 crore in Imphal, and upgradation of NH 102 A in Tengnoupal sections worth ₹502 crore are other projects.
Modi inaugurated projects worth ₹9,000 crore in Mizoram and addressed a public rally virtually from Lengpui Airport due to inclement weather.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the Bairabi-Sairang Railway line linking Mizoram to the country’s railway map.
