Kochi: President Droupadi Murmu offered prayers at the hillshrine of Sabarimala temple in Kerala on Wednesday.
After performing preliminary rituals in the foothills at Pamba, she reached the sanctum by road.
She walked the Holly 18 steps to reach before the lord Ayyappa to offer prayers.
The President will return to Thiruvananthapuram by evening.
President Murmu became the second president to visit the temple, after V V Giri visited the temple five decades ago.
The President will unveil a statue of late President K R Narayanan at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. She will inaugurate the Mahasamadhi Centenary of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru at the Sivagiri Madhom in Varkala.
Murmu will inaugurate the valedictory function of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the St Thomas College in Pala in Kottayam.
Murmu will inaugurate the centenary celebrations of the St. Teresa’s College at Ernakulam on Friday before flying back to Delhi.
