Kochi: Speaking in favour of the abrogation of Article 370, Salman Khurshid of the Congress, has said that it had led to the end of the perception that Jammu and Kashmir was a separate entity, India Today reported.
Addressing the members of Indonesian think tanks and academia, the former Union Minister said the positive outcomes since the abrogation of the article include 65 per cent voters participating in elections leading to the establishment of an elected government in Kashmir.
He argued against any attempts to reverse these developments, pointing to the “prosperity” that has emerged in the region.
Salman is part of an all-party delegation led by JDU MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, visiting Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore to brief the countries on Operation Sindoor carried out after terrorists killed 26 people in Kashmir on April 22.
Congress is a part of the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir which had passed resolution in favour of restoring Article 370 shortly after taking office in September last year.
However, the Congress said that the matter is now ‘closed’ from a constitutional standpoint after the Supreme Court upheld the central government’s decision.
