Kochi: The 21-year-old weightlifter Sanket Sargar won a silver medal in the men’s 55 kg category in the Commonwealth Games on Saturday.
An injury on his right elbow was a big handicap for him in winning the gold.
He lifted 248 kg and fell one kilogram short to the gold medalist Mohammad Aniq of Malaysia.
Weightlifter Gururaja Poojary clinched bronze in the men’s 61 kg category. He lifted 269 kilogram.
