Kochi: Twenty people were killed and over 450 injured in the second phase of explosions from wireless communication devices in Lebanon, media reports said.The explosion of walkie-talkies used by the armed group Hezbollah in Beirut left many blind in one eye and some lost one arm, BBC reports said.
Hezbollah has accused Israel for the attack while Tel Aviv has not responded.Earlier, the Israel Defence Minister Yoav Gallant had announced a “new phase in the war”. The Israeli army had redeployed an army division in the north bordering Lebanon.
The UN Secretary General António Guterres has called on all parties to “exercise maximum restraint”. A conflict is on for about 11 months between Israel and Hamas which has the support of Hezbollah and Iran.The walkie talkie explosion comes close on the heels of Tuesday’s blast of pagers killing 12 and injuring 2,800 others.
