KPAC Lalitha is no more

Kochi: Popular actress K P A C Lalitha, 74, died at Ernakulam due to health issues on Tuesday night.
She passed away two days before her birthday on February 25.

Married to popular director Bharatan, Lalitha is survived by her actor-director son Sidharthan and daughter Sreekutty.

Winner of the National Award for supporting actress awards twice for Amaram (1990) and Shantha (2001), she has won four Kerala State Film Awards.

Lalitha started her acting career with the Leftist KPAC drama company.  She was long associated with the left movement.

She was the chairperson of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Academy.

Making her entry into the silver screen through K S Sethumadhavan’s Koottu Kudumbam in 1969, she acted in atleast 550 films in different languages.

Originally named Maheshwari Amma, Lalitha 
did immitable roles in numerous films including spadikam, sanmanassullavarkku samadhanam, ponmuttayidunna tharavu, vadakkunokkiyantram, vietnam colony, manichitrathazhu, venkalam .

She was also associated with TV serials and other shows.

The funeral will be held at her ancestral place in Wadakkanchery on Wednesday evening.
